Case Study Overview
Electric Pergola Industry
Key Results
The original website was an early-stage template-based site with image-focused product displays, lacking critical decision-making content such as wind resistance test data, material specifications, and installation case studies. During the independent website upgrade, the product system was reorganized, and scenario-based solution modules along with a technical specifications center were established. The entire project took three months to complete. Specific results are as follows:
Website Performance: Lighthouse score increased from an average of 94 after the upgrade (achieved through static site generation + global CDN acceleration, significantly improving international access experience).
Website Traffic: Average monthly visits were under 120 before the upgrade. After the upgrade, through scenario-based solution content + technical blog operations, organic traffic increased by 480% within seven months, with overseas traffic accounting for 68% (U.S. market 35%, Europe 25%, Middle East 8%).
Website Inquiries: The first B2B inquiry was received in the 3rd month after launch (from a landscape contractor in Florida, USA). Inquiries then continued to climb, stabilizing at over 35 per month from the 13th month onward.
Website Orders: In the 8th month, a villa project order worth $48,000 (approximately RMB 340,000) was secured. In the 12th month, an annual framework agreement was signed with a Middle Eastern hotel group (initial order $85,000, approximately RMB 610,000). By the 14th month, a bulk order from a high-end residential development in the U.S. was completed, valued at $120,000 (approximately RMB 860,000). These pergolas performed exceptionally well during a subsequent hurricane, becoming powerful word-of-mouth advertising for the client in the local market.
Project Background
The client’s original website was built in 2018 using a generic template. Product displays were primarily basic images with simple parameters, lacking critical decision-making content such as wind resistance rating data, snow load test reports, water-electricity separation system explanations, and installation case studies. For years, business relied mainly on Alibaba International Station, offline exhibitions, and repeat customers, with the website generating virtually no effective sales leads.
With the global upgrade of outdoor living concepts and the surge in smart home demand—particularly the explosive growth in demand for high-quality electric pergolas in European and American markets (average annual growth rate exceeding 35% over the past three years)—the client sought to establish a professional brand image through their website and expand overseas direct client and contractor channels. However, lacking experience in digital content operations, they were initially skeptical about the website’s customer acquisition capabilities, believing that only platform traffic or exhibitions could generate leads.
After in-depth communication, we recognized their differentiated advantages in core technologies—such as male-female anti-misplug connectors, water-electricity separation systems, dual-groove wind-resistant structures, and silent motors—but they lacked an effective technical presentation system. Therefore, we decided to abandon the old template site and rebuild it as a technology-driven, scenario-focused professional independent website.
Our Approach
Conducted in-depth analysis of electric pergola market trends in Europe, America, and the Middle East: Researched market demand characteristics in high-end residential areas of Florida, California, and Europe, analyzing the website architectures and technical content strategies of 15 international competitors and industry leaders.
Leveraged Google Ads Keyword Planner and outdoor building materials community forum trending terms: Identified high-value keywords such as “electric pergola,” “smart shading system,” “aluminum pergola,” “wind-resistant pergola,” and “outdoor electric canopy,” developing a layered keyword strategy.
Established a technical specifications and certifications center: Provided detailed professional content including material specifications (6063-T5 aerospace-grade aluminum), wind resistance ratings (withstanding Category 10-12 hurricanes), snow load test data, IP65 waterproof motor parameters, and water-electricity separation system explanations to meet the selection needs of contractors and high-end clients.
Created scenario-based solution modules: For different application scenarios including villa courtyards, hotel dining areas, commercial complex rooftop gardens, and golf course rest areas, provided depth content such as recommended product combinations, installation renderings, 3D configurators, and real-world case studies.
Built a case study library: Featured classic including pergolas that remained standing after Florida hurricanes, Middle Eastern hotel projects, and domestic high-end villa projects to strengthen trust signals.
Designed a smart product selection tool: Helped customers quickly filter suitable products based on courtyard area, climate conditions (windy/rainy/snowy), and budget range.
Guided the client on regular updates: New product launches, technology upgrades, project case studies, and installation tutorials, while using data monitoring tools for continuous conversion path optimization.
